“I started Trystology because, as a woman, I was uncomfortable shopping for passionate products in the traditional 'trenchcoat stores.' In fact, I couldn’t even walk into those stores. I was even uncomfortable going into lingerie shops where there is often a 'back room' dedicated to sex toys with vulgar packaging and marketing that is demeaning to women."

"About a year before I started Trystology, I found an incredible, modern sex toy product that was discrete and classy, with nice packaging. I brought it home to my husband and told him, ‘Women like me don’t know about these things!’ I shared with him how I hated the shopping experience. He suggested that I create an environment where women like me would be comfortable shopping for sex toys.”

Thus, Trystology was born. “Trystology is about educating and empowering women to own their sexuality and enhancing the relationship of couples. It is also about providing healthful, body-safe sex toys for passionate play. We offer private consultations and educational seminars. We also offer fun and classy "girl’s night out" sex toy and lingerie parties.”

In late 2009, Roylin Downs opened Kama Sutra Closet, an online store and brick and mortar boutique based in Ventura, CA featuring contemporary, high quality, sensual products for passionate play. In only its first year of operation, Kama Sutra Closet garnered two nominations for Best Boutique in the Nation and Best Boutique in the West at the prestigious AVN Awards.

In 2011, Roylin opened Lingerie at Kama Sutra Closet, providing high quality lingerie from all over the world.

In 2014, Kama Sutra Closet came out of the closet, and re-branded as Trystology. Trystology is recognized in the industry as a leader and innovator in the budding trend of female friendly, couple friendly, discreet and high end sex toy boutiques popping up nationwide.
